Basketball Game Preview: Colton Yellowjackets vs. Grand Terrace Titans

Colton hasn't had much luck against Grand Terrace recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Colton Yellowjackets will take on the Grand Terrace Titans at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Colton will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Kaiser, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Colton blew past Kaiser 71-27 on Friday. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 623rd, while the Cats are ranked 1260th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Grand Terrace hadn't done well against Eisenhower recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Everything went Grand Terrace's way against Eisenhower as Grand Terrace made off with a 56-35 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Titans who have now won four matchups in a row.

Grand Terrace's win came from a few key players Colton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Samyah Green, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mykhia Anderson, who posted 16 points and six steals.

Grand Terrace smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Colton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.6 points per game. As for Grand Terrace, they pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Colton came up short against Grand Terrace in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 60-52. Can Colton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
