Softball Recap: Hiram Triumphs

Hiram's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Southeast Whitfield County Raiders by a score of 7-3. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Sophie Epperson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Lily Martinez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Marlee Greathouse, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Hiram's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Southeast Whitfield County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Hiram will be playing in front of their home fans against Paulding County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southeast Whitfield County, they will head out to take on Coahulla Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
