Baseball Game Preview: Rodriguez Mustangs vs. Elk Grove Thundering Herd

Rodriguez hasn't had much luck against Elk Grove recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will face off against the Thundering Herd at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rodriguez comes in on six and Elk Grove on nine.

Rodriguez is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Laguna Creek 6-4. Six seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Justin Gregory looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Drew Beasley was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played.

Jesuit typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Elk Grove proved too difficult a challenge. They never let the Marauders get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Thundering Herd have posted against the Marauders since April 30, 2022.

Anthony Bascherini tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched.

Rodriguez's record now sits at 24-7. As for Elk Grove, their record is now 26-6.
