Soccer Game Preview: Folsom vs. Del Oro

The Folsom Bulldogs will square off against the Del Oro Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Folsom's last seven matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Folsom is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Gregori 3-2. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by just one goal.

Kirsten Darke and Kiana Arbis scored all three of Folsom's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Del Oro duked it out with Pleasant Grove on Wednesday. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was Del Oro who was credited with the win. Del Oro got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Pleasant Grove's two. Given the Golden Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked third in California, while the Eagles are ranked 70th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Del Oro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five games. Folsom's victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
