Softball Recap: O'Neill Takes a Loss

If O'Neill was feeling good fresh off their 10-2 takedown of Ord on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell just short of the Ponca Indians by a score of 4-3 on Saturday. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 9-0.

Rylee Selby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, O'Neill saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bristol Scott, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

O'Neill's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Ponca, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season.

O'Neill wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-0 victory against Pierce on the 20th. As for Ponca, they have also already played their next matchup, an 11-3 defeat against Central City on the 20th.
