Softball Recap: Hiram's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Hiram's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 win over the Southeast Whitfield County Raiders. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Sophie Epperson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. Epperson was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024.

In other batting news, Marlee Greathouse was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Isabella Reyes also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Hiram's win bumped their record up to 6-19. As for Southeast Whitfield County, their loss was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-19.

Looking ahead, Hiram will take on Mt. Zion at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southeast Whitfield County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
