Football Recap: Briar Woods Extends Home Winning Streak to Five + How To Watch

Briar Woods had won five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 4-1 to make it six. They snuck past the John Champe Knights with a 13-7 victory. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 win the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Briar Woods got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was James Price out in front who rushed for 75 yards and one score, and also threw for 42 yards and one touchdown. Price was even better on defense, forcing one fumble and making nine total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Briar Woods didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jake Sheppard, Price, and Chance Kimball picked up one apiece.

As for John Champe, they now have a losing record of 2-3. They gained 161 more yards on the day, but it was Briar Woods that made the best use of them.

Cole Fitzgerald and Tyler Kann certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Fitzgerald gained 101 total yards and a touchdown, while Kann picked up 127 receiving yards. Fitzgerald didn't just play on offense: he also made one tackle and defended three passes. Dominic Plush was another key player, having thrown for 275 yards.

Briar Woods didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 24-21 win against Freedom on the 10th. As for John Champe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 41-0 victory against Riverside on the 9th.
