Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Madison Central). They really took it to the Murrah Mustangs for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-14 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Jaguars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Mustangs are ranked 153rd).

Madison Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tripp Smith led the charge by throwing for 153 yards and a pair of TDs. Another rusher making a difference was Mikel Stephen, who rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Madison Central proved: they limited Murrah to a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. While two picked up at least nine total tackles, Keevon Jacobs stood above the rest. He made nine total tackles (6.0 for loss). Madison Central's ground attack was stronger, having averaged five.

Madison Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Venson Moore and Banks Boyer. Jacobs was another major factor on D, making nine total tackles (6.0 for loss).

When it comes to explaining why Murrah lost on Friday, don't look at Courtavious Russell. Despite the final result, he picked up 121 receiving yards and one score.

Madison Central now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Murrah, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Madison Central will head out to take on Germantown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars will need to watch out since the Mavericks have now posted at least 31 points in their last six games. As for Murrah, they are taking a road trip to face off against Starkville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
