Soccer Game Preview: Mountain View vs. Los Gatos

Mountain View and Los Gatos are an even 3-3-4 against one another since February of 2020, but likely not for long. The Mountain View Spartans will head out to square off against the Los Gatos Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain View's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Mountain View is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Homestead on Wednesday. Mountain View fell just short of Homestead by a score of 1-0.

Mountain View was without their leading scorer, Kalea Dwelle, in Wednesday's contest. With Dwelle sidelined, Zoe Wong got her first action of the season.

Meanwhile, Los Gatos hasn't lost a match since December 16, 2024, a trend which continued in their latest game on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Palo Alto. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Vikings are ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Los Gatos hit Palo Alto with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ale Munneke, Abby Nelson, and Madison Kohli.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6-1. As for Los Gatos, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2-5 record this season.
