Recap: Gompers Prep Academy Eagles vs. High Tech NC Raptor
If the Gompers Prep Academy Eagles were riding high off their 45-22 takedown of the Bonsall Legionnaires last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Gompers Prep Academy took a 30-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of High Tech NC. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Gompers Prep Academy of the 31-30 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Gompers Prep Academy still got an impressive performance from Kamariyah Mccollough, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nadia Mohamed, who scored eight points.
Riley Hernandez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for High Tech NC, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Hernandez is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Nadia Dawood was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds and six steals.
Gompers Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for High Tech NC, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Gompers Prep Academy will head out on the road to challenge Mountain Empire at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Empire comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for High Tech NC, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against San Diego Academy at 3:45 p.m.
