Soccer Game Preview: Mainland vs. Cocoa Beach

The Mainland Buccaneers are taking a road trip to take on the Cocoa Beach Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mainland's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Mainland fell victim to Flagler Palm Coast and their airtight defense on Friday. They lost 8-0 to the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 157th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cocoa Beach). Everything went their way against Heritage on Friday as Cocoa Beach made off with a 13-1 win. The Minutemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by three goals or more this season.

Cocoa Beach pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 37 goals over those five contests. As for Mainland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
