Baseball Recap: Jackson County Takes a Loss

After flying high against Alcovy last Friday, Jackson County came back down to earth. The Jackson County Panthers fell 6-3 to the Clarke Central Gladiators on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 9-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Wes Ashcraft was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. Garrett Klein also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Jackson County's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-6. As for Clarke Central, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-10.

While Jackson County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday.
