Mt. Vernon scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a blow against the New Castle Trojans, falling 57-28. The defeat leaves the Marauders still looking for their first win of the season.

Tylin Thrine had a dynamite game For New Castle., rushing for 127 yards and four scores, while also picking up 41 receiving yards and one TD. Luke Sherrell helped out on the ground, rushing for 101 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for New Castle, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will challenge Shelbyville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Marauders will be up against the Golden Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.43 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for New Castle, they will square off against New Palestine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will need to watch out since the Dragons have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests.
