Basketball Game Preview: Morro Bay Pirates vs. St. Joseph Knights

Morro Bay and St. Joseph are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Morro Bay Pirates will challenge the St. Joseph Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Morro Bay played in conference for the first time on Friday and they got just the result they we're looking for. Everything went their way against Righetti as Morro Bay made off with a 53-32 victory. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph entered their tilt with Monache on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 65-62 win over the Marauders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since January 20, 2024.

St. Joseph is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points per game. As for Morro Bay, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-7-1.

Morro Bay took a serious blow against St. Joseph in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 62-17. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Morro Bay was down 35-10.
