Bishop Guilfoyle waltzed into their contest on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 win over the Clearfield Bison. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Bison are ranked 168th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clearfield's loss came despite strong showings from Eve Helsel and Sonny Diehl. Helsel posted 26 points along with seven boards and four steals, while Diehl went 5 of 11 on her way to 19 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. That was a full 47.3% of Clearfield's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mia Helsel, who earned two points and eight rebounds.

Bishop Guilfoyle pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 12 points across that stretch. As for Clearfield, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.
