Baseball Recap: Central Lions vs. Northside Patriots
Central had lost five straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 20-9 to make it six. They fell just short of the Northside Patriots by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, with their most recent loss being a 2-0 defeat on Wednesday.
As for Northside, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.
For Northside's part, Chris Biggs made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Biggs has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
Biggs wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Clay, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northside, they will take on Carrollton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
