Basketball Recap: Lauren Burton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead C.B. Aycock over Corinth Holders + How To Watch

If C.B. Aycock was feeling good fresh off their 58-23 takedown of Eastern Wayne on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Golden Falcons took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Corinth Holders Pirates on Wednesday. The Golden Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

C.B. Aycock's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lauren Burton, who posted 11 points.

Corinth Holders had a senior duo take command as Lauren Sizemore dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and Darla Lee scored 21 points and four steals. Those 12 boards set a new season-high mark for Sizemore. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Vanderhorst, who earned four points and 12 rebounds.

C.B. Aycock's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Corinth Holders, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. C.B. Aycock will square off against Smithfield-Selma at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Corinth Holders, they will face off against Cleveland at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
