Soccer Game Preview: Point Loma vs. Carlsbad

The Point Loma Pointers are headed away from home for the first time to take on the Carlsbad Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Point Loma's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against San Dieguito Academy, sneaking past 1-0. Allie York had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Pointers.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Carlsbad's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mater Dei on Friday. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Point Loma now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Carlsbad, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Point Loma took their win against Carlsbad in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Point Loma since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
