Volleyball Recap: Douglas Takes a Loss

Douglas lost against Sahuarita last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Douglas Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the Sahuarita Mustangs. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

While Douglas had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 17-25, 25-19, 25-18.

Aydil Montano paced Douglas' offense, picking up eight kills. Montano got some help from Hailey Barco and her 17 assists. Montano was also a major player on defense: she and she shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with three each.

Cyra Sample had a dynamite game for Sahuarita, getting 16 digs and two aces.

Douglas' loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Sahuarita, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season.

Douglas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sahuarita has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Cholla on the 29th.
