Baseball Recap: Cherokee Bluff Takes a Loss

Cherokee Bluff lost against Oconee County on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bears fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by just one run.

Cherokee Bluff got a good showing from Landon Rawlins, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Rawlins has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bryce Fontenot was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Landon Kemp was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Cherokee Bluff and nudges their season record down to 14-10. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Oconee County, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Cherokee Bluff wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-1 win against West Hall on the 8th. As for Oconee County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-3 victory against Monroe Area on the 9th.
