San Joaquin Memorial came tearing into Thursday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 48-35 victory over the Roosevelt Rough Riders. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Roosevelt lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nyleigh Gregory, who posted 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The contest was Gregory's third in a row with at least 18 points. Auburn Santos was another key player, putting up 11 points.

San Joaquin Memorial's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points over those games. As for Roosevelt, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Joaquin Memorial will square off against Bullard at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bullard has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Roosevelt, they will challenge Fresno at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
