Softball Recap: Cedar Shoals' Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak at Home

There's no place like home for Cedar Shoals, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They blew past the Meadowcreek Mustangs 17-5 on Tuesday. Considering the Jaguars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Gretta Garrett was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in August of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Savannah Rawls, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kate Graichen, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Cedar Shoals' win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-9. As for Meadowcreek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coming up, Cedar Shoals will take on Eastside at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Meadowcreek, they will head out on the road to face off against Discovery at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
