Basketball Recap: Rayel Hakes Key Part of Team Effort in Terrors Win

On Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Otto-Eldred Terrors beat the Clarion-Limestone Lions 39-35. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Terrors.

Otto-Eldred's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rayel Hakes, who posted ten points and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Hakes now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Ayla Van Scoter, who scored nine points.

Despite the defeat, Clarion-Limestone saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hannah Beggs had 18 points and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for Beggs. The team also got some help courtesy of Corinne Hepfl, who earned two points and five boards.

Otto-Eldred pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Clarion-Limestone, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.

Otto-Eldred has already played their next match, a 46-29 defeat against DuBois Central Catholic on the 1st. As for Clarion-Limestone, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-30 loss against Coudersport on the 28th.
