Softball Game Preview: Richmond Hill Wildcats vs. Wayne County Yellow Jackets + Official Tickets

The Richmond Hill Wildcats will head out to square off against the Wayne County Yellow Jackets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Richmond Hill has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Richmond Hill gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Pinewood Christian 5-3. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Gess Clark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lily Welch, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Aubrey Villella was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Wayne County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Perry on Monday. The Yellow Jackets put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 16-3 win. The Yellow Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Richmond Hill's record now sits at 15-8. As for Wayne County, their record is now 19-6.

Richmond Hill couldn't quite finish off Wayne County when the teams last played back in September and fell 7-5. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
