While Newman Grove/St. Edward didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the McCool Junction Mustangs by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Kailey Patzel paced Newman Grove/St. Edward's offense, picking up four kills. Patzel got some help from Olivia Reardon and her six assists. Reardon was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Newman Grove/St. Edward's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for McCool Junction, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.
