Basketball Recap: Santa Fe Catholic Skates Past Winter Haven with Ease

After losing to Winter Haven the last time they met, Santa Fe Catholic decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Santa Fe Catholic Hawks really took it to the Winter Haven Blue Devils for the full four quarters, racking up an 84-42 win. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

Santa Fe Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tate Darner out in front who went 8 for 10 on his way to 25 points. The matchup was Darner's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Toby Lane, who posted 12 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.

Santa Fe Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Winter Haven still got an impressive performance from Troy Boswell Jr, who went 7 of 14 en route to 20 points and eight boards.

Santa Fe Catholic pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Winter Haven, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

When Santa Fe Catholic and Winter Haven next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Santa Fe Catholic will face off against Foundation Academy and their three-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
