Basketball Recap: Veronica Whitten's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gregori over Monterey Trail

Gregori lost against Monterey Trail back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Gregori Jaguars took a 55-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monterey Trail Mustangs. The Jaguars' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Veronica Whitten, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. Gregori is 2-1 when Whitten posts eight or more boards, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Alanah Lopez, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

Gregori's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Monterey Trail, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-3.

Gregori didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-39 victory against Franklin on the 23rd. As for Monterey Trail, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 70-55 loss against Colfax on the 23rd.
