The Newton Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Greenville Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Newton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Newton came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against St. Joseph-Ogden, falling 8-1. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Newton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Ferguson, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Greenville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Mt. Vernon 5-3.

Greenville has been performing well recently as they've won 17 of their last 21 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Newton, their loss dropped their record down to 24-7.
