Baseball Recap: Seckinger's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Seckinger ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past the Roswell Hornets 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jaguars have posted since February 15th.

Seckinger got a great performance from Shia Carnish as he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Carnish has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nicholas Fernandez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Sam Melanson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

The win snapped Seckinger's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 14-9 record. As for Roswell, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8.

Seckinger will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hornets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
