Preview: James Logan Colts vs. Kennedy Titans
James Logan is 10-0 against the Titans since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The James Logan Colts will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kennedy Titans at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (James Logan has eight straight wins, the Titans have nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, James Logan gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 69-25 win over Newark Memorial. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-15.
James Logan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Vanessa Parilla led the charge by scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Natalia Muniz was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Kennedy lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Wednesday was a bit more commanding. They had to suffer through a rough 69-13 loss at the hands of Moreau Catholic. While losing is never fun, Kennedy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1036th, while the Mariners are ranked 216th).
James Logan is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Kennedy, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-16.
Everything came up roses for James Logan against the Titans in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 73-30 win. Will James Logan repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
