American is 10-0 against Newark Memorial since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The American Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Newark Memorial Cougars at 7:00 p.m. American is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Last Friday, American didn't have too much trouble with Irvington as they won 44-26. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Vikings are ranked 872nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Newark Memorial took a blow against Moreau Catholic on Thursday, falling 68-38. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

American will need focus on slowing down Angelina Baca, one of several Newark Memorial players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Juliana Barbosa, who put up nine points.

Newark Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for American, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.

Everything came up roses for American against Newark Memorial in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 64-35 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for American since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
