Volleyball Recap: Murray County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Murray County came into Tuesday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Rockmart Yellowjackets on Tuesday. For the Indians, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 victory the Yellowjackets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

While Murray County won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 26-24.

Kenzi Fritts paced Murray County's offense, picking up five kills. Fritts got some help from Jordyn Farmer and her ten assists. Farmer also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Katherine Stone, each putting up three.

Murray County's win bumped their record up to 12-21. As for Rockmart, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 18 of their last 20 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-29 record this season.

Murray County will challenge Ringgold at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rockmart, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Cedartown on the 1st.
