Football Recap: Poteau's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

Poteau lost against Ada back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pirates took a 49-35 bruising from the Cougars. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (31), the Pirates still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Poteau lost, don't look at Sam Tecla. Despite the final result, he threw for 154 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 104 yards. Spencer Perry helped out on the ground, rushing for 84 yards.

Even if they lost, Poteau's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Wrigley Downs refused to say out of the backfield, picking up a sack all by himself.

Having lost for the first time this season, Poteau fell to 4-1. As for Ada, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Poteau will face off against rival Glenpool at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Ada is set to take on their familiar foe Hilldale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
