Celina's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They slipped by the Van Wert Cougars 38-37. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Despite the loss, Van Wert saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Xavier Kelly rushed for 144 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also picked up 78 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 144 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Kelly. Micah Cowan also helped out with an impressive 96 receiving yards.

Celina's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Van Wert, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Celina wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 35-21 defeat against Shawnee on the 19th. As for Van Wert, they have also already played their next contest, a 36-27 win against Defiance on the 19th.
