St. Thomas Aquinas, American Heritage and Norland all face stiff tests but Hurricane Helene could wreak havoc on schedule.

The high school football schedule this week in Florida is headlined by three programs putting unbeaten records on the line against teams in the top 25 of the MaxPreps computer rankings.

That's assuming Hurricane Helene doesn't force changes as the storm is being projected for landfall late Thursday. Helene has already wiped one big matchup off the board, IMG Academy (Bradenton) at Central (Phenix City, Ala.) in a battle of nationally-ranked powers.

No. 3 Lakeland and No. 17 Jones (Orlando) moved games to Tuesday night to avoid hurricane issues. Both won handily with Lakeland beating Lake Gibson (Lakeland) 63-0 and Jones beating Winter Park 22-0.

In games still on for now, No. 2 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) faces Bishop Moore (Orlando), Plantation (Plantation) travels to No. 7 American Heritage (Plantation) and No. 16 Norland (Miami) makes a trip to Archbishop McCarthy (Fort Lauderdale) in the headlining games this weekend.

Following a season-opening loss to Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.), St. Thomas Aquinas has won four in a row by an average margin of 37.8 points per game.

Aquinas is led by senior signal caller Andrew Indorf, who has completed 68 of 100 passes for 839 yards and 11 touchdowns against four interceptions. Indorf's favorite target is five-star sophomore wide receiver Julius Jones, who has hauled in 19 receptions for 347 yards and four scores.

Unbeaten Plantation looks to pull off the upset against an American Heritage team that is just 2-3 to start the season. The Patriots have fallen victim to a brutal early-season schedule but will look to bounce back this week behind five-star Texas pledge Dia Bell, who has completed 84 of 124 passes for 1,341 yards and 16 touchdowns against two interceptions through five games.

Following a 45-20 loss to Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) last week, Norland will look to get back on the right track against a 4-0 Archbishop McCarthy squad that has outscored its opponents 152-30 on the season.
