Basketball Recap: Firebaugh Comes Up Short

Firebaugh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 36-12 to the Dominguez Dons. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1317th, while the Dons are ranked 384th).

Dominguez's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but STEPHANIE MENDEZ led the charge by putting up five points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of MYA HARRIS, who posted six points and three blocks.

Firebaugh's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Dominguez, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.

Firebaugh is taking a road trip to take on Bellflower at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Firebaugh is facing Bellflower at the right time seeing as Bellflower is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Dominguez, they will challenge La Mirada at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Dominguez comes in on seven and La Mirada on four.
