Claysburg-Kimmel found their leader in sophomore Zailee Bush, who went 11 for 22 on her way to 32 points in addition to six boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bush has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Francona, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Tussey Mountain over Mount Union in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Tussey Mountain blew Mount Union out of the water with a 54-22 final score. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.
Claysburg-Kimmel better focus on containing Adyson Weyandt and Karah Husick as the pair were huge in Tussey Mountain's win. Weyandt dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals, while Husick went 7 of 10 en route to 16 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Weyandt a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Brianna Gabrielson, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 11 points.
Tussey Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount Union only posted three assists.
Claysburg-Kimmel's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Tussey Mountain, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Claysburg-Kimmel has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Tussey Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
