Recap: Poly Parrots vs. Calabasas Coyotes
The Poly Parrots took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (barely). They had just enough and edged Calabasas out 57-54. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Poly also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2016.
Poly had a senior duo take command as Heart Lising scored 26 points along with 4 steals and Hannah Lising scored 19 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Jhada Cordon, who scored 9 points along with 5 steals.
Calabasas' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lia Hendelman, who scored 13 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Scarlett Weiner, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Calabasas were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Poly only pulled down three.
Poly's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Calabasas, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Poly will be playing in front of their home fans against Arleta at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Calabasas will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Village Christian at 3:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Village Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Calabasas in California (Village Christian is ranked 24th, while Calabasas is ranked 747th).
