Basketball Preview: Greater Johnstown Trojans vs. Bishop McCort Crushers

Greater Johnstown is 0-10 against the Crushers since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Greater Johnstown Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Bishop McCort Crushers at 7:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Greater Johnstown comes in on four and the Crushers on 17.

Last Friday, Greater Johnstown didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Golden Eagles, but they still walked away with a 54-50 win. Given Greater Johnstown's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 452nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, even though Bishop Guilfoyle scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, Bishop McCort still came out on top. Bishop McCort snuck past the Marauders with a 61-57 win. That's two games straight that Bishop McCort has won by exactly four points.

Greater Johnstown is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Bishop McCort, they pushed their record up to 17-0 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Greater Johnstown took a serious blow against the Crushers in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 66-38. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Greater Johnstown was down 45-23.
