Soccer Game Preview: Hebron Christian vs. Toombs County

The Hebron Christian Lions will take on the Toombs County Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Toombs County will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Hebron Christian extended their winning streak to 14 on Tuesday. The Lions' defense stepped up to hand Hart County a 10-0 shutout. Give Hebron Christian's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

They hit Hart County with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Reese Kanclerz (3), Benji Gunji (3), Samuel Carlson (2), and Archie Mindra (2).

Meanwhile, Woodville-Tompkins kept up with Toombs County until halftime last Tuesday, but afterwards: not so much. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 4-0 margin over the Wolverines. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Toombs County's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Woodville-Tompkins are ranked 381st).

Hebron Christian pushed their record up to 14-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those six matches. As for Toombs County, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-4.
