Softball Recap: Mountain View Triumphs

After low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Mountain View brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They put the hurt on the Grayson Rams with a sharp 12-1 victory on Monday. Considering the Bears' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Mountain View got a great performance from Gillian Brooks as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Brooks has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Olivia Storey was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those runs were her first of the season. Peyton Patterson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Mountain View's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Grayson, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Mountain View will square off against Commerce at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grayson, they will face off against Beach at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
