The Festus Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Seckman Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Seckman will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Festus extended their winning streak to ten on Monday. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand Perryville a 10-0 shutout. Give the Tigers' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Not much got past Aubrey Doyle, who gave up just three hits to keep Perryville off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Keeleigh Hankins, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Oberle, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Festus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Seckman made sure to put some runs up on the board against Parkway North on Monday. The Jaguars blew past the Vikings 15-5. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.
Molly Sullivan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Payton Bantle was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024. Anna Rager was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Festus' record is now 12-2. As for Seckman, their record now sits at 10-7.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Festus hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Seckman struggles in that department as they've averaged .365. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Festus couldn't quite finish off Seckman when the teams last played back in October of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
