Basketball Recap: Butte Valley Piles Up the Points Against Big Valley

There's no place like home for Butte Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Big Valley Cardinals 58-29. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 53-40 back in December of 2024.

Leading Butte Valley to victory were Kohen Thomas and Khaily Hensley. Thomas almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards, while Hensley went 10 for 22 on her way to 21 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Hensley a new career-high in points.

Butte Valley's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. As for Big Valley, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Butte Valley will challenge Tulelake at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Tulelake will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Butte Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Big Valley, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Big Valley Cardinals take on the Dunsmuir Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
