Baseball Game Preview: Okemos Chiefs vs. St. Johns Redwings

The Okemos Chiefs are taking a road trip to face off against the St. Johns Redwings at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Okemos' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so St. Johns' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Okemos came up short against Catholic Central and fell 9-4. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, St. Johns didn't have quite enough to beat Grand Ledge on Thursday and fell 10-9.

Collin Buzinski and Nolan Koenigsknecht did some serious damage despite the final result: Buzinski went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Koenigsknecht went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Brody Kurncz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

St. Johns' loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Okemos, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-5-1.

Okemos skirted past St. Johns 8-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chiefs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
