Basketball Recap: Horace Mann UCLA Community Takes a Loss

Horace Mann UCLA Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 54-18 loss at the hands of the Foshay Wolverines. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1285th, while the Wolverines are ranked 549th).

Despite the defeat, Horace Mann UCLA Community saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Valerie Manzo Munguia posted 11 points.

Foshay's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aunisha Clark, who had 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Jauregui, who scored 12 points.

Horace Mann UCLA Community's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Foshay, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Horace Mann UCLA Community wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 38-20 win against Stella High Charter Academy on the 7th. As for Foshay, they have also already played their next matchup, a 53-25 victory against Hawkins on the 5th.
