Basketball Recap: Sonny Diehl Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Central

Clearfield won the last time they faced Central and things went their way on Monday too. The Clearfield Bison took down the Central Dragons 62-43. Given the Bison's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Dragons are ranked 522nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clearfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sonny Diehl, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Diehl is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Helsel, who went 5 of 10 en route to 16 points.

Clearfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Clearfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 67-59 victory against Huntingdon on the 28th. Central has also already played their next game, a 55-46 loss against Bellwood-Antis on the 29th.
