Basketball Game Preview: Johansen Vikings vs. Lathrop Spartans

Johansen and Lathrop are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Johansen Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lathrop Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Johansen and four for Lathrop.

Last Thursday, Johansen had to suffer through a 60-33 loss at the hands of Pacheco.

Meanwhile, Lathrop came up short against Ceres on Thursday and fell 53-44. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 691st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 282nd).

Lathrop's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Johansen, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Johansen didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Lathrop in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 36-32 win. Does Johansen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lathrop turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
