Baseball Recap: Buchanan Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Buchanan ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the River Valley Mustangs 8-7. The win continues a trend for the Bucks in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won five in a row.

Luke Zeiger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. Buchanan is 2-1 when Zeiger posts eight or more strikeouts, but 7-12-1 otherwise. Zeiger was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Brody Lange was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Holden Carrington, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Buchanan's victory bumped their record up to 9-13-1. As for River Valley, they moved to 17-4 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buchanan will square off against White Pigeon at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for River Valley, they will face off against Brandywine at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
