Blue River will be taking part in a tournament against the Centennial Broncos at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Blue River is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Blue River will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Polk County on Thursday. Blue River walked away with a 10-5 victory over Polk County. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Emelia Hoeppner was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Olivia Adams also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Centennial not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 4th (when they won 15-0). They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Lexington.
Riley Ziegler made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Nya Fischer was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Paityn Scheele was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .619. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Centennial's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12. As for Blue River, their record now sits at 14-7.
Everything went Blue River's way against Centennial in their previous meeting last Thursday, as Blue River made off with an 11-1 victory. Will Blue River repeat their success, or does Centennial has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
