Basketball Recap: Gonzales Takes a Loss

Gonzales lost against Marina back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The game between the Gonzales Spartans and the Marina Mariners didn't end well, with the Gonzales Spartans falling 55-36. The loss was the Spartans' first of the season.

Marina found their leader in sophomore Shekinah Williams, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bianca Borja, who posted 13 points.

Gonzales' loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Marina, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Notre Dame the next time they take the court. Marina will head out to face Notre Dame at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Gonzales will host them on Monday.
